JennAir Downdraft, Built-In Refrigerator and Wall Oven Repair in California
JennAir sits between the mass market and the luxury brands: the downdraft ranges and cooktops it made its name on, the built-in and column refrigerators that compete with the luxury platforms, the wall ovens and the Rise and Noir kitchens in newer California remodels. The appliances are built on Whirlpool platforms with premium parts and finishes, which means the parts are available and the service literature is thorough, and it means the built-ins need the same sealed system and panel skills as any luxury refrigerator.
We are an independent repair company, not JennAir and not a JennAir authorized servicer. Inside the warranty term, JennAir is the right first call. Outside it, this is our work: downdrafts, ranges, cooktops, wall ovens, built-in refrigerators, dishwashers, wine cellars and ice makers, same day in most metros, one flat diagnostic fee, the full price in writing before any work.

Where JennAir appliances fail.
Downdrafts, cooktops and ranges
The downdraft blower is the JennAir part no other brand has in the same numbers, and it fails on the motor, the damper and the switch, or simply loses pull because the duct under the floor is packed with grease. The cooktop side fails on spark electrodes and modules on gas, radiant elements and switches on electric, and power boards and fans on induction, with the glass on a downdraft cooktop as the part that decides whether an old unit is worth keeping. The ranges add igniters, elements, sensors and the touch control.
Built-in and column refrigerators
JennAir built-in, column and panel-ready refrigerators fail the way every built-in does: a section that warms while the other holds, a noisy evaporator fan, frost from a failed defrost part or a gasket, an ice maker that stops, a board, and on older units the sealed system. They come out of the cabinetry and their panels come off, and we assign them to technicians who work built-ins, with the factory service literature open.
Wall ovens, dishwashers and wine cellars
JennAir wall ovens fail on door locks and latch motors, hinges, elements, sensors, convection fans and the touch control, with F2 E0 and F9 E0 pointing at the sensor and the lock circuit and F6 E0 at the boards not communicating. Dishwashers lose drain pumps, diverter motors, heaters and latches. Under-counter wine cellars and refrigerator drawers fail on thermostats, fans, gaskets and boards.

What a JennAir repair costs in California.
A typical JennAir range, cooktop or downdraft repair, such as a blower motor, a spark module, a set of electrodes, an element, a sensor or an igniter, lands between $160 and $480 for parts and labor after the diagnostic fee is applied. A refrigerator repair such as a fan, a defrost part, a board or an ice maker runs between $180 and $480; a dishwasher repair between $150 and $400; an ice maker repair between $150 and $380. Sealed system work on a JennAir built-in or column refrigerator runs between $800 and $2,200, and on a built-in it is nearly always worth doing.
JennAir parts are priced above the mass-market average and below the luxury brands. The diagnostic visit is $89, credited to the repair when the work goes ahead. You get the complete price in writing before any work starts, there is no hourly rate, and a return visit to fit an ordered part is inside the quote.
The JennAir warranty, plainly.
JennAir has changed its warranty terms across model years, so the paperwork for your appliance is the only reliable statement of what is covered. Most JennAir appliances sold in the US carry parts and labor coverage from the date of purchase for at least the first year, with JennAir arranging service, and many built-in refrigeration models add longer limited coverage on the sealed system; that later coverage is usually parts only. The JennAir site for your model number is the final word.
Inside the term, call JennAir and use it. Outside it, call (888) 482-7007. We are independent, we fit genuine JennAir parts, and if a failed part is still covered we say so before we quote the labor.
What JennAir owners ask us first.
The downdraft is the JennAir part that no other brand has in the same numbers, and it fails in three ways: the blower motor under the cooktop or in the cabinet stops, the damper that opens when the fan runs sticks, or the duct that runs under the floor or through the cabinet packs with grease until the fan pulls almost nothing. A downdraft that runs but does not draw is usually the duct, and clearing it is the repair. The switch that starts the blower fails too, and a blower that will not stop is the switch or the control.
The cooking side fails the way any cooktop does. On gas, spark electrodes crack or get wet, the spark module clicks without stopping, burner ports clog with boil-overs, and the oven igniter on a range weakens until the oven will not light. On radiant, an element or an infinite switch goes and a zone stays cold. On induction, the power board that drives a pair of zones, a coil or the cooling fan that keeps the board alive fails and the cooktop throws a code. The glass on a downdraft cooktop is the part that decides whether an old unit is worth keeping, because on some models it is no longer supplied.
The ranges add elements, temperature sensors, relay boards and the touch control, and the wall ovens door locks, latch motors and hinges. Nearly all of it is one visit with parts from the truck. Call (888) 482-7007 with the model number from the label under the cooktop or behind the drawer and the symptom or the code.
JennAir parts are priced above the mass-market brands and below the luxury platforms, which fits where the appliances sit. A downdraft blower motor, a damper, a spark module, a set of electrodes, a radiant element, an igniter or a temperature sensor on a JennAir range or cooktop lands between $160 and $480 for parts and labor after the diagnostic fee is applied, with an induction power board or a replacement glass top at the top of that range. A fan, a defrost part, a board, an ice maker or a gasket on a JennAir refrigerator runs between $180 and $480; a drain pump, a diverter motor, a heater or a latch on a dishwasher between $150 and $400; an ice maker module or valve between $150 and $380.
The JennAir job that costs real money is the sealed system on a built-in or column refrigerator, between $800 and $2,200, and on a built-in it is nearly always the right call, because replacing the unit means cabinetry, panels and an installer on top of a new refrigerator. We check whether the sealed system is still inside its parts coverage before we quote it.
Every visit begins with a $89 diagnostic, credited toward the repair when you go ahead. The complete price is in writing before any work, there is no hourly rate, and a return trip to fit an ordered part is inside the quote.
Yes, at almost any age, and for the same reason every built-in is: the alternative is not a new refrigerator, it is a new refrigerator plus the cabinet work, the custom panels and the installer that a built-in demands, and that total is far above any repair. A JennAir built-in, column or panel-ready refrigerator that has warmed on one side, that is frosting, that has a noisy evaporator fan, a failed ice maker, a board fault or a gasket that no longer seals is a repair without much debate, because each of those is a modest part on a unit designed for a long service life.
Even the sealed system, which on a freestanding refrigerator is where replacement wins, is usually a repair on a JennAir built-in. Finding the leak and replacing the evaporator, the condenser, the filter drier or the compressor costs a fraction of replacing the unit, and on many models the sealed system is still inside its parts coverage for years after the labor warranty has ended, which we check before we quote.
The cases that favor replacement are rare: a liner that has cracked, a cabinet that has corroded from a long unnoticed leak, or a control board that is no longer supplied for a very old unit. We assign JennAir built-ins to technicians who work built-ins, with the factory service literature open and panel removal and refit inside the job. Call (888) 482-7007 with the model number from the label inside the door and a description of which section is warm.
Inside the warranty term, yes in practice. Like most manufacturers, JennAir performs warranty repairs through its own service network, and a warranty claim starts with a call to JennAir, not to an independent company. If your appliance is inside its parts and labor term and the fault is not damage or misuse, use that: JennAir pays for the repair and arranges it. A repair by us in that window is one you would pay for that JennAir would have covered, and we say so on the phone.
Outside the labor term, an independent technician can repair a JennAir appliance freely, and doing so does not void what remains of any longer parts coverage on components we did not touch. Many JennAir built-in refrigeration models carry extended parts-only coverage on the sealed system, and how a covered part is supplied for a repair done outside the network depends on the program for your model and year. JennAir has changed its terms across model years, so the paperwork that came with the appliance, or the JennAir site for your model number, is the only reliable statement of what yours includes, and we read it with you before we quote.
We are independent, not JennAir and not JennAir authorized, and we say that plainly on every page. We fit genuine JennAir parts, we assign built-ins to technicians who work built-ins, and if the better path for a covered fault is to have JennAir handle it, that is the advice you get. Call (888) 482-7007 with the purchase date and the model number.
